Sweety. Can be sooo coy when she wants something. You know what they’re like at this age ! Twist me round their little fingers.

      Or little claws.

A dear little street sparrer came within inches of my foot to eat something on the pavement. He sat there and ate it, then found another bit and ate that. I sat unmoving as he hopped around me. I love it when this sort of thing happens.

Aw … you would have loved to have been with me around 7.30-8.30 pm tonight then. My blimmin Sony Ericsson 3G vidcam let me down. During the last 5 minutes of videoing it suddenly announced “Not enough memory” please delete files – and quit. But it never asked and then saved all that footage as a file, like my other phones do. So the file’s useless, won’t play, can’t be transferred to another program for finalising and had to be dumped.

I’ve got some video footage taken beforehand to review though, at least.

I went down to feed a female Australasian Shortfin I haven’t named yet. I’m using up the rest of the Xmas Turkey. She was delightful, head out and being very polite, and then she departed and young Eli Longfin (who I haven’t seen much lately) turned up, and he got some, He was all business. He hasn’t learnt to beg yet. Then Granville showed up and managed to avoid Eli – and he was very cute too. Little kissy faces, but he still waves around all over the place & it’s tricky trying to get him to latch on the end of the feed stick, and then Elvira showed up, gorgeous as ever, doing her usual head out dancing while feeding.

She took time out to chase all the other eels away but at least she never actually bit any of them tonight. They had to work hard to stay ahead of her though, she was pretty determined they were leaving.

And all the while this was happening, Sweety and Alex were often less than a metre away from me, Sweety sometimes right behind me, happily pulling out plants, getting insects, and getting the odd handful of wheat and taking bread chunks and insects off along the bank to the hidden nest about maybe 8 metres distant.

Your godpooklet is turning into a very nice young pook. He was very well behaved today. Even spent time alone in the back yard with me. Quietly !! The parents were cunning today. They send Alex to perch on the fence and yell for food, and then when I’d go out there, one or other or both are waiting over the other side, knowing their kid has got my attention, and he just jumps down and joins them. 😀

It’s a real ego boost when a wild creature is so trusting.

I keep hoping to see the bird charmer in action again. His birds came really close to me, as I was with him. Alas, I had to be somewhere, or I would probably have been there all afternoon.
