Open Forum – Friday

18 January 2019

This post is open to anyone to comment on any topic that isn’t spam, illegal or offensive. All Your NZ posts are open but this one is for you to raise topics that interest you, or you think may interest others..

If providing opinions on or summaries of other information also provide a link to that information. Bloggers are welcome to summarise and link to their posts. Comments worth more exposure may be repeated as posts. Comments from other forums can be repeated here, cut and paste is fine.

Your NZ is a mostly political and social issues blog but not limited to that, and views from anywhere on the political spectrum are welcome. Some ground rules:

  • If possible support arguments, news, points or opinions with links to sources and facts.
  • Please don’t post anything illegal, potentially defamatory or abusive.

FIRST TIME COMMENTERS: Due to abuse by a few, first comments under any ID will park in moderation until released (as soon as possible but it can sometimes take a while).

Sometimes comments will go into moderation or spam automatically due to mistyped ID, too many links (>4), or trigger text or other at risk criteria. If they pass muster they will be released as soon as possible (it can sometimes take hours).

Maybe you’re wrong. I don’t see anything commercial in the link.

Note that this is repeated each day in the Open Forum post: “Bloggers are welcome to summarise and link to their posts.”

A link to a blog about love seems fine to me. If you don’t do love perhaps you could at least show some tolerance of others having a say here. And at least don’t attack others for having their say, and don’t try to pressure me on content, and don’t accuse me of things that are obviously incorrect.

Sure love is fine. But the post is so vastly different to any thing that happens here it was worth questioning. “I don’t do love” ? 99% of the people who post here don’t do love in their posts. 99% of people attack every one in 99% of their posts. I show as much tolerance and love as any one else. The comment about the love thread and you posting affiliates was so obviously saturated in satire I am staggered you would fall for that.

Why? I have always encouraged a wide variety of topics to discuss.

You’re not being consistent. You have been critical of too many posts about similar topics, and now you a critical of something ‘vastly different’.

I don’t care about people whinging about what I post, but I do care about attacks on comments that try to deter others from participating. It’s not for anyone else to try top dictate what is suitable here and what isn’t.

If posts or comments don’t interest you then try just ignoring them. That’s what most people mostly do.

          • “99% of people attack every one in 99% of their posts.”

A gross exaggeration, clearly false. I frequently encourage discussing (including criticising) topics raised rather than attacking the messenger. While some slip into bad practices at times I think it generally works fairly well here.

I have a very liberal approach to what gets posted. Different strokes for different folk. I’m not so liberal when someone tries to whip up opposition to what is being posted.

Satire is a tricky thing to get right, sometimes. I do a bit of that occasionally & sometimes it misses the mark & cranks the odd character up. (No names tho.) Best to use the ol’ colon close bracket emoji. 😉

Then you know any downtick’s just from some wanker. 👍

Activated charcoal. Been taking it on and off for years. Stops hangovers, makes you feel great.

Now snowflakes have made activated charcoal an icon. They have AC icecreams ,puddings, you name it.

Next thing it will be banned. Marvellous.

I don’t see why it should. What an odd question.

The warning about the charcoal was justified if it is known to prevent absorption of other things. It would be very irresponsible not to warn people about side effects.

Of course the warning is justified.

My point being this great natural healer is being used in a dangerous manner.

People like me may use 4 capsules X three days in a row, every three months.

We certainly don’t eat ice-creams made of AC , once or twice a week.

Someone with poor bowel habits could die from a blockage very fast.

They’d be a fool not to do anything about it, but as arsenic poisoning has the opposite effect, this would not be a problem.

I was about to write this girl is a dead woman walking. I cannot see how Islam can let this pass. Alcohol, bacon and fags…she must be made an example of !!!

    Quote:

‘The refugee agency helping her settle in Canada has revealed they hired a bodyguard for the teen, amid threats to her safety.”

But of course. Maybe she isn’t as free in Canada as she thinks. Her head would be highly prized amongst jihadists…even average Muslims malcontents.

Prince Philip driving a large car at his age; the old fool’s lucky to be alive.

Some genius here letting her pre-schooler take the while as he sat on her knee and she used her phone. No restraint,. but one would have been worse than useless as it would probably have crushed junior in a crash if he’d shared mum’s seatbelt.

And the poor travellers have done nothing wrong….can’t see why they are being persecuted…afraid to go to the airport in case they’re attacked…haven’t stolen anything at all, it wasn’t the one who pleaded guilty in the CCTV….they’re not even Irish.
