Surely it would be more correct to suggest the magnetic pole is invading Russia?

Its always been moving , just another case of making largely usual changes as something extra-ordinary

“The magnetic North Pole moves in loops of up to 50 miles (80 km) per day. But its actual location, an average of all these loops, is also moving at around 25 miles a year”

So actual daily change can be double that of the yearly average and in last 150 years its around 1100km

Not quite the same thing right now:

“Something’s up in the Arctic: the north magnetic pole is on the move. But rather than drifting around aimlessly as it has for centuries, the pole has picked up speed and is heading fast for Siberia.

The curious shift has caught scientists’ attention and forced them to take rare action. Concerned for those who navigate in the Arctic regions, they have updated the official map of the world’s magnetic field to pinpoint the pole’s location…

…“But in the past 50 years it started to move north, and in the past 30 years it started to accelerate away,” he said. “It went from moving at about five to 10km [ six miles] a year to 50 or 60km a year today. It’s now moving rapidly towards Siberia.”

“The north magnetic pole has been caught up in this jet and it’s pushing it rapidly across to Siberia,” said Beggan. The south magnetic pole is moving far more slowly than the north, because the liquid outer core is moving differently in the southern hemisphere.

At the moment, Earth’s magnetic field is growing steadily weaker, leading scientists to think it will eventually flip, with the north and south poles changing places like a bar magnet flipping over. Researchers know from traces left if rocks that this has happened before, but not in the past 780,000 years.

“It’s not a question of if it’s going to reverse, the question is when it’s going to reverse,” said Daniel Lathrop, a geophysicist at the University of Maryland. Such a flip would not be instantaneous, but would take 1,000 or more years to play out.”

Syria produced barely produce enough oil for its own use even when it was a functional state. And Venezuela sells most of it’s oil to the US anyway, do you think they get it for free afterwards?

“meanwhile other hellholes get how much attention?”

Afghanistan gets a lot, despite it producing no oil. How does that fit your idea?

‘“Every gun that is made, every warship launched, every rocket fired signifies in the final sense, a theft from those who hunger and are not fed, those who are cold and are not clothed. This world in arms is not spending money alone. It is spending the sweat of its laborers, the genius of its scientists, the hopes of its children. This is not a way of life at all in any true sense. Under the clouds of war, it is humanity hanging on a cross of iron.”

Good to see the Catholics are diversifying and taking heed of the equal opportunities zeitgeist sweeping the world:

Pope Francis confirms Catholic clergy members abused nuns

Pope Francis has acknowledged for the first time that members of the Catholic clergy abused nuns, adding to a string of recent allegations about widespread sexual abuse by priests and coverups by the church hierarchy.

“It’s not that everyone does this, but there have been priests and bishops who have,” Francis told reporters aboard the papal plane, according to AP.

Brilliant scene when he said that we now have more women in the workforce than every before. All the stony faced Dem women dressed in white stood and gave him a standing ovation.

Then he said – don’t sit, you’re going to like this

and we also have more women in congress than ever before – even Nancy behind him beckoned them all to stand and ovate like nobody’s business. 😀

Elizabeth Warren takes advantage of the SOTU to offer apology for saying she was Native American:

“Sen. Elizabeth Warren (D-Mass.) on Tuesday apologized for previously identifying as Native American.

Warren, who apologized recently to the Cherokee Nation for taking a DNA test to show that she had Native American ancestry, told The Washington Post that the apology was meant to include identifying herself as Native American while at a professor at Harvard University and the University of Pennsylvania.

“I told him I was sorry for furthering confusion about tribal citizenship,” Warren told the Post. “I am also sorry for not being more mindful about this decades ago. We had a good conversation.”

“I can’t go back,” Warren also told the newspaper. “But I am sorry for furthering confusion on tribal sovereignty and tribal citizenship and harm that resulted.”

Her apology comes hours before President Trump will give his State of the Union address.”

Whats been Trumps claimed national origin?

“In his book, “The Art of the Deal,” Donald Trump reaffirmed the myth of his family’s origins, writing that his father’s father came to America “from Sweden as a child.”

As with Trump , even his own heritage is just a gimmick, as hes swung back to being German, and just saying his father ‘spent time in Sweden ( maybe a weekend)

Trump’s father understandably didn’t want to identify as German after WW2. I guess Trump was supporting him when he first wrote that but the German roots were a long time back.

Thats not what Trump was saying when he later became German-American again.

I repeat Trump wrote that about ‘his fathers family’ in his book in 1987.
This wasnt the late 40s and 50s. It was a pure and simple lie

              Trump’s father died in 1999:
Although both of his parents were German,[4] for decades after World War II Trump told friends that his family was of Swedish origin. According to his nephew John Walter, “He had a lot of Jewish tenants and it wasn’t a good thing to be German in those days.” – wikipedia

Trump was supporting his father’s story whether or not he knew it was wrong then. His grandfather died in 1912 when his father was only 12. Trump had no direct knowledge of him.
