Interesting article on the bipartisan committee investigating the 2016 election (and beyond) regarding Russian influence.

It outlines some alarming concerns, but having interviewed hundreds of people Richard Burr still says:

    _____

“For now, Burr appears to have arrived at his answer. “If we write a report based upon the facts that we have, then we don’t have anything that would suggest there was collusion by the Trump campaign and Russia,” he said.

The finality of Burr’s assertion was jarring — but he had said a version of it before. He told Fox News in September that the committee had found no “hard evidence” of collusion, though new information could still come to light.

He now doubled down, adding it was “accurate with everything we’ve accumulated since then.”
    ______

That said, he intimates the committee have found a lot of alarming Russian influence that spreads well beyond 2016, and well beyond the USA.

Also interesting is that there has been speculation the Steele dossier was funded in part by Russians to affect the election.

Burr claiming that the house Dems are partisan for opening up investigations is outrageously funny. House Dems engaging in their duty of oversight is not a partisan activity.

What was partisan was the way that Burr handled and closed the investigation.

Next he’ll be announcing there’s no evidence of Climate Change.

Not sure what you mean Joe. This committee has been praised for its bipartisanship.

“For almost as long, the inquiry, led by Republican Chairman Richard Burr of North Carolina and Vice Chairman Mark Warner, a Virginia Democrat, has been held up as the last bastion of bipartisanship in Washington.”

“And the biggest compliment they receive, he continued, is when witnesses later say they could not tell which staff members were Democrats and which were Republicans. “That’s the way it should be,” he said.”

Paint it whatever colour you like but the Democrats fundamentally disagree with Burr on evidence of collusion,

Yes, the Republicans can’t mind read people’s motivations, but the Democrats can:

” “If we write a report based upon the facts that we have, then we don’t have anything that would suggest there was collusion by the Trump campaign and Russia,” Republican Richard Burr told CBS News in an interview published on Thursday.

Burr said the committee, which has been investigating alleged interference in the 2016 U.S. election two years, has not begun drafting its final report. He also could not say how much of it ultimately would be declassified, according to CBS.

While there has been extensive bipartisan cooperation on the Senate panel, including between Burr and ranking Democrat Mark Warner, Democrats seriously disagree with Burr on evidence of collusion, according to congressional sources familiar with internal committee discussions.

Burr told CBS that despite media reports regarding a number of interactions between Trump and his associates and Russia, he was “unpersuaded” that they could be called collusion given the panel’s findings. He said it was difficult to ascertain people’s motives.”

For anyone who thinks the US government is broken and corrupt – watch this and be reassured that everything is OK and there is nothing to see here, so please move along…

Very well done from the youngest member of Congress.

Well holy shit, Jeff Bezos has revealed an attempt at extortion by the National Enquirer, favoured media source for the Cult-45ers, and he’s tabled evidence:

The question now is will the SDNY walk back its non-prosecution agreement with AMI. I Bet David Pecker’s immunity doesn’t cover this. And I wouldn’t be surprised if the WaPo takes the gloves off on El Trumpo.
