Two media journey-people learn about the the Cambridge International Exam. About how much harder it is than NCEA; about the calibre of students it produces – in this case the best in the world.

My guess is there’s no Kapa Haka, environmental angst or gender identity issues tested for in this exam.

Just plain simple intellectual skills that are transferable all over the world.

    Crikey..this is so radical!

The Cambridge exam produces nothing except a measure on how well a student sat a test.

Correct. And what does the test test?

        • Griff.

           /  February 21, 2019

How well you cope with that test.
If you have not studied the curriculum it is based on you will not do as well as someone who has even if you have far greater depth of knowledge.
The format of a test has a great influence on the result for any given indervidual.
It is often worthwhile to spend time thinking about what a tester wants to see rather than just answering the question.

Correct. Just like the real world where things are not straightforward; where you will encounter bias; a boss who wants things done his way; be expected to learn the ”company culture” and be a good little worker.

However, if you want to leave that rat race and do your own thing you need to know 2+2=4.

Henry Ford when asked about his genius replied: ‘I hire people to do things I can’t do.

            Now that’s genius..something I doubt NCEA produces.

IQ is mostly predicted by your genetics if you are born a moron you are always going to be a moron .
You still haven’t proven that your first rant has any bases on reality .
Or that you actually know what you are talking about when it comes to NCEA..
Thousands of New Zealand educated youth head offshore to work every year.
Kiwi expats can be found at the forefront of industry and education around the globe.
NCEA doesn’t seem to hold them back from international success.
As usual you are blathering nonsense to push your own ignorant views.

Your trouble Griff, is you can’t sustain a reasoned debate. You always revert to invective.

”IQ is mostly predicted by your genetics if you are born a moron you are always going to be a moron.”

That is not true. It’s true if you are born with a high IQ you have a natural advantage over someone who hasn’t.

In my own case I had a very average IQ. I spent my primary school days vying with three other pupils fighting not to be bottom of the class.

Same at the start of college. Then I discovered that to learn you must have good focus and a good memory.

It must be cool being Pete. Wake up, throw the dogs a bone. Bugger off for the day. Check in now and again to watch the dogs fight over food and territory. Have a quiet chuckle. Come home and maybe throw them one more bone…and relax.

“Auckland secondary school accused of rape culture for telling female students they’re distracting male teachers.”

If an Auckland secondary school told the girls they could wear whatever they wanted as long as it was ‘respectable” and one girl from the mass said she thought a male staff member was looking at her chest, would it be likely we’d see a headline “Auckland secondary school accused of rape culture with male teachers ogling girls breasts”?

Actually, I don’t mean one girl from the mass saying she ‘thought’ a male staff member was looking but that he WAS looking at her chest and making her feel uncomfortable. In a group of 1000 girls is it possible that such a story could arise and the girl’s mates supporting her and starting a headline grabbing petition?

The school is in an invidious situation. The girls want to be able to dress in a revealing fashion and see it as their right. But the teachers then have to stand at the front of the class looking down on the students and it can make things uncomfortable for both parties.
I guess the only thing we know is that the men will be wrong and rapey no matter what happens.

A late friend had a pupil who would sit in the front row and open her legs…he wasn’t that much of a fool as to look down and be accused of looking at what he couldn’t help seeing. He acted as if he hadn’t noticed this and she tired of doing it..

It’s hardly rape culture to request that girls don’t wear things that are so low that men are going to have to see their breasts….and be accused of perving at what they can’t help seeing.

flogging off the country, shitting in a stream
Looking for an answer, trying to find a $ign

They said, get back, honky cat
Better get back to the hoods
Well, I quit those days and my forex ways
And, oh, the change is gonna do me good
You better get back, honky cat

        Fair question.

In a sane fair world who you rent to, or not, should be your decision. There is no need for this outrage. Possible tenants can accept the terms of the lease..or move on.

What self respecting Maori would want to stay with such a landlord? Sounds like utu to me.

I have no problem with the landlords views on Maori. Maori are quick to give whitey their views on them.

           /  February 21, 2019

Your first problem is you don’t actually understand utu, & you make that really obvious. You seem to have a very limited understanding of the word that I find strange for someone claiming to be part-Maori, which I have never seen any evidence to support (you post like someone whose idea of Maori is a white supremacist stereotype) & which I am inclined not to give any credibility to these days.

Your second problem is you appear to think two wrongs equal a right, or at least that revenge is appropriate. That’s Muslim fundamentalist thinking, Corky.

             /  February 21, 2019

It’s fundamentalist thinking, full stop, not just Muslim fundamentalist thinking.

I can’t see where the utu comes in, either. Did the tenant do something in response that we haven’t heard about ?

             /  February 21, 2019

Fundamentally you can’t argue with my stance unless you believe I have domain over your home…or you would grant me domain over your home.

Of course you wouldn’t. But you view on this issue changes if it’s someone else’s home. There’s a disconnect.

”Your first problem is you don’t actually understand utu, & you make that really obvious.”

I’m all ears, pray tell. I see this sheila was whining on One News tonight. She apparently was told to move on by some commentators. She hasn’t. I wonder why?

”I find strange for someone claiming to be part-Maori, which I have never seen any evidence to support (you post like someone whose idea of Maori is a white supremacist stereotype) & which I am inclined not to give any credibility to these days”

Funny that’s just what I say about your mate Pickled Possum. The one you say is Maori, but who didn’t know what bling bling was..or having full cupboards.
Forgive me, but I don’t take anything you say, believe and espouse on the topic seriously.

”Your second problem is you appear to think two wrongs equal a right, or at least that revenge is appropriate. That’s Muslim fundamentalist thinking, Corky.”

That’s why we will never agree on this subject. There has not been two wrongs.
Just disrespect for individual rights and property rights.

If you examine that carefully you will find little content that actually makes any sense or addresses anything in prior discussion .
It was checked for laughing at a Maori taking offense at being prejudiced by someone using racial stereotypes and has avoided addressing that with blithering nonsense. Instead it issues a rant full of disconnected crap that even examining individual sentences fails to make a valid point.

The one you say is Maori, but who didn’t know what bling bling was

If a person who does not know words from black American urban cultural like “bling” it proves they are not maori.
              Really ?

There has not been two wrongs.Just disrespect for individual rights and property rights.

There has not been two wrongs then in the next sentence list what it thinks are two wrongs.

It is just gibbering nonsense in the hope some sticks .

But I see no reason why she should not keep her reasons to herself. There are any number of pieces of white trash that I’ve met who did exactly that to the peope they rented from.
