Careful Pete – this is a non-story now the media and politicians have been caught out. You’ll be branded an alt-Right Fox news and Breitbart fan boi for even suggesting this is news.
It was only a big issue when the racist MAGA thugs were beating up the gay black guy – that was reflective of Trumps America.

“Jussie Smollett faces felony charge for alleged false report of racist, homophobic attack”

The funniest bit being why he did it. Simply, being a well paid actor and then a victim of a ‘hate’ crime makes him more marketable. His pay goes up….

Perhaps he should have hired some US labour to help him, rather than imported. It might have cost more, but he may have avoided being caught.

How would it make his pay go up or make him more marketable ? It wouldn’t have made him a better actor or more interesting as a person.

He wanted to become a victim cause celebre among the leftie chattering classes. It worked too – he was getting lots of positive attention when it was first reported.

            I bet he’s not now 😀

I had no idea who he was and wonder still why there was so much on our news about it.

His salary was well over $1m, this increase in profile and all the attention would have increased ratings for Empire and jump him into the highly prized ‘Victim’ class.

Its a silly season story – only used when there isnt a right wing mass killer on loose.

His awful crime ? filing a false claim… not a match for murdering people in a church or synagogue

How about the frequent narrative of the US being a hot bed of hate crime reinforcing an environment that propagates that very hate. There is an entire industry dedicated to this.

Smollett was simply responding to that culture.

You noticed how much it has made the righties gibber?
They have only given it rest a few days because I repeatedly gave them shite about it.
Yet we haven’t heard a word about the far right nutcase arrested for planing to go on a mass killing rampage have we
        Wonder why ?
To paraphrase Shakespeare Act III, Scene II of Hamlet, .
“The righties doth protest too much, methinks”

What The Smollett Press Conference Can Tell Us.
The article points out that the Chicago PD is justifiably pissed off that this “crime”, if it had not been caught out, would have slimed all of Chicago as being a place of “hate crimes”. And they came close to getting away with it:

The Nigerian brothers finally decided to change their story in the 47th hour of detention. One more hour and they might have walked out leaving police at a loss.

It also points out – as the MSM has – that another group that’s been hurt by this are people who’ve actually suffered from attacks on them because of their race or gender, and that’s bad.

But here’s the thing though, the article then points out that there’s another group that got slimed by this shit and the MSM pile-on – white, conservative men – who were the villians.

o paraphrase Sup. Johnson, this particular incident was a scar that the right didn’t earn and certainly didn’t deserve.

And like Sup. Johnson went on to say, that scar was made worse by the fact that the false accusations “received national attention for weeks.” “Celebrities, news commentators and even presidential candidates weighed in” and all of them took for granted the underlying assumption about who the villain was here. The right’s reputation got dragged through the mud for weeks by a selfish anti-Trump actor looking for a raise.

And I especially liked this bit WRT to some commentators on this blog and others:

If you don’t understand why the right is upset about that, then you probably don’t see people on the right as real people. And if that’s the case, you’re not worth talking to anyway.

      Unhinged, fanatical, hate-filled Left-wing arseholes.

I think what makes him so good is that there’s serious political analysis in amongst it all & it always finds you shaking your head and nodding as he continues.

North Carolina board votes to hold new House election over absentee ballot fraud

The North Carolina Board of Elections voted unanimously to hold a new election in the state’s 9th District after overwhelming evidence of vote tampering.

Prior to the board’s decision, Republican Mark Harris, the declared winner in the race who had been fighting for his election to be certified, changed his position and called for a new election. Harris was initially declared the winner by 905 votes over Democrat Dan McCready but the race was never certified as evidence began to surface of ballot fraud by employees of the Harris campaign. On the fourth day of an evidentiary hearing by the board, Harris said there should be another election.
