Fun facts following Cohen’s testimony to the US House Oversight & Reform Committee:

The Republicans spent more time investigating the Benghazi attack to undermine Clinton and Obama, than they did the 9/11 terror attacks, Watergate and the JFK assassination.

This week, the Republicans attacked Cohen as a pathological liar and criminal because he lied to defend trump. One such example:

“You’re a pathological liar! You don’t know truth from falsehood.”
    – Republican congressman Paul Gosar, whose own family took out an ad urging people to vote against him.

Of course, Republicans hate lying so much that they supported the appointment of convicted criminal Elliott Abrams, as special envoy to Venezuela. Abrams lied to Congress about the Iran-contra affair. And ignore the thousands of lies told by their mob boss, the unindicted coconspirator in federal felonies.

NY Times: Trump Ordered Officials to Give Jared Kushner a Security Clearance

President Trump ordered his chief of staff to grant his son-in-law and senior adviser, Jared Kushner, a top-secret security clearance last year, overruling concerns flagged by intelligence officials and the White House’s top lawyer, four people briefed on the matter said.

Mr. Trump’s decision in May so troubled senior administration officials that at least one, the White House chief of staff at the time, John F. Kelly, wrote a contemporaneous internal memo about how he had been “ordered” to give Mr. Kushner the top-secret clearance.

The White House counsel at the time, Donald F. McGahn II, also wrote an internal memo outlining the concerns that had been raised about Mr. Kushner — including by the C.I.A. — and how Mr. McGahn had recommended that he not be given a top-secret clearance.

The chairman of the House Oversight Committee issued a stark warning Friday to White House counsel Pat Cipollone, demanding that the White House turn over documents and comply with interviews related to how the White House handled security clearances of some of the President’s closest advisers.

Cummings’ letter comes after The New York Times reported Thursday that the President personally intervened to secure his son-in-law Jared Kushner a security clearance, despite concerns from career officials. The President had previously denied he personally intervened.

“If true, these new reports raise grave questions about what derogatory information career officials obtained about Mr. Kushner to recommend denying him access to our nation’s most sensitive secrets, why President Trump concealed his role in overruling that recommendation, why General Kelly and Mr. McGahn both felt compelled to document these actions, and why your office is continuing to withhold key documents and witnesses from this Committee,” Cummings wrote on Friday.

But according to letters released by Cummings Friday, the White House believes it has broad jurisdiction to protect security clearance information about the President’s closest confidantes from Congress.

Don’t agree with the sentiment personally, but nevertheless a wonderful analogy for Brexit:
