The most interesting feature of tomorrows children’s climate change protest will be the hatred from the right towards the children and teachers.I wonder if actual violence will take place from the more extreme right going by the ranters on talkback and rightwing blogs

I think you will find most on the right dont care because they have seen how inept this government is and totally unable to deliver any policy so just ignore them and their bitterly disappointed fans, violence, protesting and damage to property is the preserve of your team.

The most interesting feature of the children’s march will be the action steps proposed by them to solve the “problem”.

What will they change to achieve the goal to “save” the earth?

Easy to complain about anything, much harder to formulate action plans and put in place actual action to “save” their sheltered version of what needs to be done.

Be a giant banner waving borefest with lots of talk and no action.

On saturday they will be back in front of their little screens, carrying on using fossil fuels like they did on the before the march.

Not one will change anything in their lives to stop using fossil fuels.

Another day another embarrassing story for the worlds most inept minister, is anyone in charge or is Twyford going to poll axe Ardern. Labour..the party that looks after millionaire property developers.

    https://www.stuff.co.nz/national/111235617/canterbury-kiwibuild-house-was-on-market-last-year-and-did-not-sell

If Twyford wants to pick up houses already for sale that havent sold because they are the wrong size in the wrong place and on sell them at a loss to the taxpayer with no increase in the supply then he may have misled us as to what Kiwibuild is.

That house is worth around 400k which is why it hasnt sold. It would have cost under 200k to build and I think the section was around the 100k mark (GV is 175k) when you break down the cost of the whole multi unit site.

When did asking price become …selling price?

Asking price is what Twyford has just guaranteed on behalf of the taxpayer, the selling price ? Well Mike Greer doesn’t care anymore does he.
You must be delighted at Twyford helping out millionaire property developers Blazer. Dalziels husband shilling for the Chinese. Jones threatening journalists. Cullen on a grand a day. I am feeling for you fella.

Other than the right no one cares, most voters think that after 9 years at long last something is being done.If I had my way the 1000s of locked up ghost homes bought by overseas owners and land backed I would seize and put them to use but that would be called communism

Good to see you have no property (not just land and buildings) ownership that the state can take away from you…well done.

Will you be hoping to live in one of the state confiscated houses?

Remember what the state giveths to you, it can take it away just as quick.

A comment by Parti elsewhere got me thinking.

What is the highest pinnacle of human achievement?

There are heaps of contenders, ranging from the personal & social to the mechanical & technological. But for me, it would be landing men on the moon & getting them safely home again. To have humans actually leave our planet & land on what is really another one – if it was a bit bigger, we’d have a double planet system – I think is a stunning achievement.

This is a great question G. For me it is those who succeeded against all odds. Winston c –
“Success is not final; failure is not fatal: it is the courage to continue that counts

      I give you Harland Sanders…

“the founder of Kentucky Fried Chicken (KFC), left school at 13, lost numerous jobs, his wife left him, and at the age of 65, he retired as a failure dependent on his savings and money from social security. One day, knowing he was a good cook, he borrowed some money, fried some chicken, sold it door-to-door, founded Kentucky Fried Chicken and became a billionaire at 88

Much of that is urban myth, according to Snopes, especially the last bit about him being dependent on savings and welfare…he was a businessman by then. It would be hard to sell chicken door to door; it would be cold and greasy and unappetising.

Many of the false facts were put out by the ‘Colonel’ (he was given that as an honorary title, so shouldn’t have used it; it’s like an honorary doctorate)

I find it hard to accept Kentucky Fried Chicken as the pinnacle of human achievement and Winston Churchill by all accounts was a right effin wanker about some things, but he know how to produce the odd magic quotable quote. His quote above could be applied to the Apollo Mission and every human endeavour; one of his good ones. 👍

Interesting that, apart from us, no one’s come up with another, except Parti, and he might not have been entirely genuine suggesting that robber barnoney is the greatest human achievement.

The incident happened at a meeting to discuss a new rehabilitation centre for Māori women who have been in prison.

Apparently JB Heperi-Smith stood to have his say and was asked a question in te reo. He was answering in the same language, before responding in English.

The reaction from those who “dealt to him and pulled him up for bad manners and ignorance”? They need to be on some rehabilitation programme for ignorance. When they’ve done that the bad manners thing would have taken care of itself.

Having said that, given their level of ignorance maybe they are beyond rehabilitation. Maybe they should gather up all their own rellies and bros and go back to wherever their ancestors came from. The language they objected to was here a bit before theirs.

Hmm, a public meeting, I assume not on a marae. Emotions running high..and rightly so. Otane is a great little place, I have shares in land there.

The majority language is English. I assume most who were present were Europeans ( I don’t know).

Then two people start speaking Maori when they are quite capable of speaking English.

What ignorance is that? Sure the Pakeha who called out were rude. They could have objected in a more polite manner. But they probably thought this was another Maori hijack of an event so common nowadays.

I have been to public meetings where the abuse was worse than this..

Now Mr Smith is playing the condescending martyr who talks of birthing pains. Bs..he just plain ignorant.

I hear that Sean Plunket is back on the airwaves, Magic Radio or something. Great news he is a brilliant talkback host although listening to any talkback is likely to make one very miserable and depressed.
Discovered the magic of podcasts which I highly recommend to everyone, matters not your politics or interests there is something for everyone and some fascinating people who get the time to fully explain/talk without adverts and time limits etc. Its the future.
