La La, a pet Penguin from Japan, that walks to the local market by himself everyday wearing a backpack to collect fish, some for him and the rest for his adopted family.

They’re not quiet birds. They could win bloody medals, whining for their country. 😐

There were several more pooks in the road today (some literally)

Also plovers. There’s a rooster somewhere who crows all the time; he seems to be a bit confused, poor bird. It’s very non-directional, I can’t work out where he is.

The elderly Indians down the road were walking along as I was; they wear Indian clothes and he was wearing old but still gorgeous gold brocade shoes with elongated pointed toes attached to the front. Very fairy-tale and only to be worn with trad Indian clobber. They didn’t look at all effeminate, more Maharajah.

Just went down to the Eel Spot to see if I could summon Elvira Longfin or Granville Shortfin while the Pook Family’s foraging elsewhere. The Stream’s still deep from a couple of days’ rain still filtering down from the hills, but the water’s beautifully clear. And Elvira was waiting under the underwater red roots ledge. So I fed & stroked her then left cos I have to go out. Granville won’t be around long if at all while she’s there. She’s never forgotten that he bit her tail & hung on. He gets the bum’s rush the minute she encounters him. She’s just magnificent in her element there. Love her heaps. She loves being fed & performs for me.

Our water is very low; it’s a real worry. And as everyone seems to carry a water bottle (needed in the heat and humidity) we’re probably drinking the supply down.

MYNAHS were bathing this morning. Musso’s brought a mate, damn his eyes. The mate is a bully and coward; If I open a window and make a loud noise doing it, the Mynahs fly away.
