Media Watch is a focus on New Zealand media, blogs and social media. You can post any items of interested related to media.

A primary aim here is to hold media to account in the political arena. A credible and questioning media is an essential part of a healthy democracy.

A general guideline – post opinion on or excerpts from and links to blog posts or comments of interest, whether they are praise, criticism, pointing out issues or sharing useful information.

      FB hasn’t a clue. It is blowing in the wind any which way depending who shouts the loudest. US politics as usual when the Constitution is ignored.

      So I’ll repeat my comment.
      Facebook gets 300 Million images uploaded PER DAY

      Their ( mostly automated) system doesnt allow for nuance- with that volume irony cant be distinguished from true hate.

      Pete has said evn for his blog moderation isnt an easy thing, Im sure there are complaints but he does a good job – which is done manually.
      How many moderators would facebook need to even attempt PGs level .

        People may have to learn to be careful, as they should in Customs. Every so often someone thinks it’s funny to say that there are explosives in their bag or clothes (the laugh’s on them, I imagine, when they’re strip-searched and a hand explores their orifices)

        There’s too much at stake to allow people like the Christchurch murderer to use social media as a stage.
