This post is open to anyone to comment on any topic that isn’t spam, illegal or offensive. All Your NZ posts are open but this one is for you to raise topics that interest you, or you think may interest others..

If providing opinions on or summaries of other information also provide a link to that information. Bloggers are welcome to summarise and link to their posts. Comments worth more exposure may be repeated as posts. Comments from other forums can be repeated here, cut and paste is fine.

Your NZ is a mostly political and social issues blog but not limited to that, and views from anywhere on the political spectrum are welcome. Some ground rules:

  • If possible support arguments, news, points or opinions with links to sources and facts.
  • Please don’t post anything illegal, potentially defamatory or abusive.

FIRST TIME COMMENTERS: Due to abuse by a few, first comments under any ID will park in moderation until released (as soon as possible but it can sometimes take a while).

Sometimes comments will go into moderation or spam automatically due to mistyped ID, too many links (>4), or trigger text or other at risk criteria. If they pass muster they will be released as soon as possible (it can sometimes take hours).

You have us as at a disadvantage, Lurchy. Is this a progression of your evolution as a poster and blog identity?.

Sunday morning settling in to read some good weekend journalismin and I am greeted by this summation of our PM

“On one side of the scale, she’s the fiercely intelligent, steely and devoted politician who’s firing on all cylinders when negotiating international trade deals, protecting our national security, pushing for solutions to child poverty and climate change, and deftly shutting down her adversaries in Parliament.”

What in the absolute f… is that nauseating nonsense. Let me tell you who is the person who will find this the most vomit enducing, Ardern herself because she best of all knows this isnt her, she doesnt have an ego and the quickest way to a downfall is crap like this. Stuff should be ashamed of itself.

Then the next story is this:
        https://www.stuff.co.nz/national/politics/112006795/the-magic-number-keeping-simon-bridges-safe-for-now

The 5033rd story that Bridges doesnt poll well and Judith Collins is waiting to pounce. If at this stage of the electoral cycle poll numbers are relevant then the singular failure of Shaw and Davis to have any policy wins and the dilema Ardern faces in having any coalition partners next time round could see her win the popular vote and be outski.
The Greens have power for their first time, could be gone next time and is this the most spectacular political failure of the MMP era.
I dont know I just want something interesting to read.

I am sure many find your point valid but isnt it a bit lazy to trot this out in a week that has seen rises in child poverty levels and increasing greenhouse gas emissions with the Green party sinking wipeout poll levels and perhaps a leadership change is more pressing there. National are still over 40% its hardly a worrying level.
I just think it might be more interesting dont you, and probably more important for the country.

You can count me out, Lurchy. I want National to lose the next election.
I wish her all luck. She may have been blessed by fickle chance. She may want to thieve off the deserving and give to wasters. And she may have a vision of a socialist utopia. But at least she stands for something, unlike National.

And then Stuff have endless opinion pieces from and I use this term loosely, comedians, pontificating in a battle to see who is the most woke. Hurley is examining Aussie politics with what appears to be no knowledge of them and the desperately unfunny partner of that green MP is calling everyone sexist for not watching womens sports, women dont watch womens sports all that much so much for goodness sake.
Opinion writers should find subjects that interest people rather than just signalling to their Grey Lynn dinner party friends.

I hesitate to suggest that Stuff is an unlikely source of enlightenment and possibly you are getting what you paid for.

Given gender diversity is confusing to people who are already confused in some cases, why is it being taught to the majority of school children who aren’t confused? Why stuff their lives up?
