Boy,oh,boy, in the end crawling does not pay. Neither does pragmatic politics. The PM learns not all immigrants think like us..or even want to be like us.

    Quote:

”Many immigrants to New Zealand will never be part of the New Zealand “us.” Ardern, her government, and the Labour Party are not as detached from this reality as it would appear.”

I don’t know what is meant by ‘thinking like us’ as people are not clones and don’t all think alike. What is meant by ‘being like us’ ? These are weasel words.

I have little time for the PM, but don’t think that she is as stupid as this statement would imply.
Very few people would be that stupid. They’d have to have failed to observe that people have different backgrounds, education, religions, tastes…

Who would want to live in a country of clones ?

I think that NZ does celebrate diversity (not everyone, of course, Corky seems not to) as we have Diwali, Holi. Chinese New Year, Pasifika festivals, turban days….

What do you mean by that Thumbs? Did you mean diversely?

As he said diversity, I assume that he meant diversity. Diversely makes no sense in that sentence.

  2. A very mild May so far.

I had a fluffy blanket on when we had a few cold nights, but it’s back in the blanket box as I was cooked under it. I am sitting here with open windows, barefoot, in a sleeveless dress. The warmest garment I have worn so far is a long-sleeved t-shirt and by the afternoon it’s too hot.

My heaters are still packed away.

The die-hards who dress by the calendar are all togged up in winter gear and I don’t know how they can stand it. Many people are still in summer clothes.

Religious dogma is ben Shapiro’s achilles heel. 30 years in prison for an abortion is barbaric.

Not often Ben takes a whip. I’m an avid fan. I think he’s so used to wiping the floor with all his opponents he’s forgotten what preparation is, or how to handle an equally capable opponent.
Everyone needs a good shakeup now and again. Serena Williams had one recently. The difference is Ben has admitted defeat and apologised. You rarely see that from the Left. I hope there is a round two The only thing wrong with Ben is he’s not a Trump supporter.

There’s some hope for him, then.

PETA in the US is holding forth about wool and how sheep are killed for their wool. They find a few examples of callous ill-treatment and make this the norm for the whole industry; it’s insane. They ignore the fact that unshorn sheep are (to say the least) uncomfortable and that it would be very poor economy to kill sheep or shorten their lives, even if farmers were not concerned with being kind to their animals !

The idea that sheep are killed for their wool is so stupid that you wouldn’t think that anyone would believe it, but it seems that some people now think that wool is obtained from dead sheep. This makes as much sense as thinking that cows are killed for their milk.
