This post is open to anyone to comment on any topic that isn’t spam, illegal or offensive. All Your NZ posts are open but this one is for you to raise topics that interest you, or you think may interest others..

If providing opinions on or summaries of other information also provide a link to that information. Bloggers are welcome to summarise and link to their posts. Comments worth more exposure may be repeated as posts. Comments from other forums can be repeated here, cut and paste is fine.

Your NZ is a mostly political and social issues blog but not limited to that, and views from anywhere on the political spectrum are welcome. Some ground rules:

  • If possible support arguments, news, points or opinions with links to sources and facts.
  • Please don’t post anything illegal, potentially defamatory or abusive.

FIRST TIME COMMENTERS: Due to abuse by a few, first comments under any ID will park in moderation until released (as soon as possible but it can sometimes take a while).

Sometimes comments will go into moderation or spam automatically due to mistyped ID, too many links (>4), or trigger text or other at risk criteria. If they pass muster they will be released as soon as possible (it can sometimes take hours).

You are right, Lurchy. This Western doctor needs to change his ways. After all the West is all about appeasement and kowtowing to minorities. He needs to get with the programme and understand Muslims have to be treated differently from everyone else.

By crikey, that doctor got off light, eh, Lurchy? The husband just gave him a dirty look.

Usual Corky ignorant nonsense. A doctor whose hearing seems to be defective is probably well out of it, anyway. The idea that the West (which is not a place and not made up of clones) is all about appeasement etc is a ridiculous generalisation.

If a doctor can’t hear through a thin veil, he must be deaf. How would he get on in an operating theatre where everyone is masked ?

In the West, even without immigration, we’re becoming mixed-race. This is not speculation, but is virtually guaranteed by the rates of intermarriage occurring in many Western countries. Projections reveal that faster immigration may slow the process by bringing in racially unmixed individuals, but in a century those of mixed-race will be the largest group in countries such as Britain and the United States. In two centuries, few people living in urban areas of the West will have an unmixed racial background. Most who do will be immigrants or members of anti-modern religious groups such as ultra-Orthodox Jews. The reflex is to think of this futuristically, as bringing forth increased diversity, or the advent of a “new man.” But, if history is our guide, things are likely to turn out quite differently. Many people desire roots, value tradition and wish to maintain continuity with ancestors who have occupied a historic territory.

Look its Shane Jones ‘campaigning’ in Otago ! Who knew it wasnt for Northland?

‘Regional Economic Development Minister Shane Jones announced a funding boost for a series of Otago-based projects in Milton on Friday morning.

Cheers rang out as the community welcomed what they hope will be a catalyst for growth for their region

But it wasn’t just the cycle trail that received a funding boost – $218,000 is earmarked for a new slip lane off State Highway 1 to Rosebank Industrial Park in Balclutha, while a further $250,000 is set aside to assess the future needs of Dunedin’s construction industry.

Thats what a lot of projects are , just standard infrastructure projects that are worthwhile but struggle to move up the BCR ladder for such small towns when most money is gobbled up by high growth regions under that formula

I can’t see why you are congratulating yourself because the Mongrel Mob have bought a house.

To save people looking this story up; the Mob have bought a house and the neighbours don’t like it.

How this is to Corky’s credit is a mystery.

More ludicrous claims of hate speech by the professionally offended:

And Spoonley’s (non) contribution is just pathetically stupid.

What an idiot the woman is.

She is reading far too much into this casual remark; the expression is fairly common and doesn’t imply that the followers are vermin (unless she thinks that children are vermin; the PP ended by luring away the children of Hamelin)

Perhaps she sees herself as the new Golriz Ghahraman.

She’ll need to work on the doe-eyed waif look as well. GG looks like one of the old ‘wide-eye’ posters of the 70s.

Calling this remark hate speech and justifying it by saying that it was calling the people following her vermin is an insult to those who have been on the receiving end of hate speech. She’s either being disingenuous by pretending to think that the person meant that or showing herself to be ignorant of the fact that the expression is used figuratively to mean someone who makes others follow them.

I wish that I could think that I had never been called anything worse than that 😀
