As far as the protests, I have to tell you because I commented on it yesterday.
We left the Prime Minister, the Queen, the Royal Family, there were thousands of people on the streets cheering, and even coming over today there were thousands of people cheering.
And then I heard that there were protests. I said where are the protests, I don’t see and protests.
I did see a small protest when I came, very small.
So a lot of it is fake news I hate to say.
But you saw the people waving the American flag, waving your flag. It was tremendous spirit, and love, there was great love, there was an alliance.
And I didn’t see the protesters until just a little while ago and it was a very very small group of people put in for political purposes, so it was fake news. Thank you.

I think the protests were relatively low key and modest.
But it is clear that not everyone loves Trump as much as much as the President does.

Mission accomplished. He’s off to visit one of golf courses in Ireland shortly, I read somewhere.

I saw that the Queen avoided his dominating, bone-crusher handshake (very bad manners to grab and crush someone’s hand like that) by holding out two, er, a few fingers. I read in LM Montgomery’s journals that someone told her how to avoid the agony of a bonecrusher handshake; squeeze first and then they can’t.

The protesters were few in number but the number of supporters I saw even tinier. And thos waving the US flag seemed to be yanks.
I suspect most people there just stayed home & hoped it would all be over soon.

It was very interesting to read the ANZACs’ scathing comments about the US troops turning up at the end of WWI. I suspect that they toned them down for the interviewer, going by ones I’ve read that were made at the time.

/ 5th June 2019D Day commemorations later this week. I see Scott Morrison is in London, of course Australia pulled out of North Africa after pearl harbour, so went missing in Europe for the rest of the war.
No Aussies at Alamein , Cassino and so on.
Lets see if they include the Germans, Finns , Hungarians – their allies in any commemorations. Swedes were supposedly nuetral but allowed transit for German troops ” going on leave” and the Danes , unlike the Norwegians, were non combatants and gave the Germans an easy time.

One thing that annoyed the ANZACs was that the Americans expected to be saluted (some hope) One American said to an ANZAC that their hats were the same. No, they weren’t, was the reply, the difference was that the ANZAC’s one had been worn for several years by that time. Several of the old ANZACs said that the US troops were badly trained and useless because of this; not the GIs’ fault, necessarily.
The US made a great parade of being spurred into action by the Lusitania being sunk….more than two years earlier.

I am not sure how many were invited, I know a number were but declined the invitation, but no word on exactly who declined.

Nah they don’t. Quite a few would be happy to see them mothballed. But that’s their head of state system & for the most part it works & they put up with it the same way the yanks put up with the shambles of their own political system because they don’t fancy a change to what it’s evolved to.
