A favourite web site, the lack of people in Italy due to isolation is rather scary, so folks take care to look after your health, and remember to wash your hands regularly

I had some sympathy for the man who whacked his recorder playing neighbour with a cushion. Her body language said that she was doing it to be annoying.

  2. Trump lies again: Near the end of his press conference today, Trump asserted that the U.S. didn’t buy the World Health Organization certified test kits because they were a “bad test.”

This is an out-and-out lie. It was actually Trump’s own CDC that had the “bad” test kits, and that the WHO certified test kits that Trump refused to buy are working just fine. And they continue to work just fine for all of the countries using them.

WHO had the genome identified on Jan. 15, and on Feb. 28, Trump was still twiddling his thumbs. Those are six weeks America will never get back.

Seriously, with all the time that the Republicans spent investigating Hillary Clinton over Behghazi, there needs to be equal commitment from them to investigate Trump’s mishandling of the whole COVID-19 situation, starting from him closing down the NSA and CDC pandemic response programmes in 2018.

They wont bother with political point scoring on Trump. Its a crisis and the best thing is to make progress on heath and individual support measures…the election will have its verdict on Trump, especially since Trump isnt taking any part in the political process and has stood on sidelines

Anyone notice how well Jacinda looked yesterday? Hair up, taonga hanging from both ears, and a smart conservative outfit. She looked regal; and spoke regally. She is now on par with Paula who recently appeared on the cover of an Aussie woman’s magazine.

Actually I thought Jacinda looked gaunt and too thin.

That’s just her natural appearance, I think. She’s just genetically a thin & angular type of woman. She doesn’t let it bother her or try to be a fashion or style icon.

She isn’t aging well, and does often look drawn and gaunt as well as unkempt; not a good image for a PM.

Gastric bands aren’t cheating, they don’t magically make the person thin and svelte. They still have to do the work and the bands don’t always work. Also, the person has to be quite obese to have this done.

I was talking look and dress wise. But about the TIME cover…it’s a woke world. 20 years ago Jacinda wouldn’t have even been considered. In those days you had to do something spectacular… not just your job and being a hug master.

One was a fashion shoot , one of many Paula spends her days on in this time of crisis, seems to be tag teaming with Simon who has ‘exclusives’ galore ‘at home with New idea’ while Paula does NZ cover- Australian Womens weekly for the older demographic

Time is a serious news magazine

Can’t you read? The real Paula was on the front cover of an Aussie woman’s magazine. If It hadn’t been for a miserable virus she would have been pictured on the steps of parliament with the new National government.

They can’t all be photoshopped and she looks the same all the time, even on video which can’t really be photoshopped. She lost all the weight and looks great, I admire her for it.,

Have a quiet snigger, Lurchy..but don’t pop the Champagne cork yet… karma has a habit of reversing rather quickly. Parti believes this Labour government will go down as a great one.
I believe it will go down as the government that fugged up the future of our economic prosperity.

      Making Trump look bad ?
Trump is doing that all on his own, now hes re-writing history
Yesterday “This is a pandemic,” Mr. Trump told reporters. “I felt it was a pandemic long before it was called a pandemic.”

On Jan. 22, asked by a CNBC reporter whether there were “worries about a pandemic,” the president replied: “No, not at all. We have it totally under control. It’s one person coming in from China, and we have it under control. It’s going to be just fine.”

Wasnt just a one off statement either , as Trump does it repeats his bullshit

As for the Covid testing kits
“The U.S. did not use COVID-19 diagnostic tests produced by the World Health Organization (WHO) in favor of producing its own.”

While the WHO didnt offer its kits , the US didnt want to use them but instead use its own.
      essentially Biden was correct.

Again the claim about NSC winding down the Pandemic office is true, going from its own directorate to small part of Counter Proliferation Directorate
“Additionally, the NSC’s Global Health Security directorate, initiated under Obama “to prevent, detect, and respond to infectious disease threats,” was folded into the counter-proliferation and biodefense directorate by former national security adviser John Bolton, …
      https://www.politico.com/news/2020/03/12/america-national-security-viral-threat-126574

The best Trump can say is ‘he wasnt aware of it ‘ , seemed to be a Bolton thing ( and long after Obama had left office) and wasnt the only area that was downgraded and the constant turnover of senior officials has made everything a shambles

“The high-level departures continued through 2018 and 2019 with more senior members of the NSC departing and serial turnover across many of these positions: four National Security Advisoes, six Deputy National Security Advisers, three Chiefs of Staff and Executive Secretaries, three senior Intelligence Directors, three Senior Directors for Europe and Russia, three Senior Directors for Africa and three Homeland Security and Counter-terrorism advisers.”
These things do move around for every president , but this is ‘off the chart’ when you compare the much more stable situation for most Presidents first term
      https://www.brookings.edu/blog/fixgov/2020/01/21/crippling-the-capacity-of-the-national-security-council/

eg : “On Friday, January 17, 2020, Andrew Peek was escorted from the White House grounds pending a security-related investigation. It may be that the NSC will soon be in search of a third Director of Europe and Russia in a single year and the fourth occupant overall.” Peek had only been in the job 2 months

Britain at least is thinking about vaccine production as I suggested we need to move now with Australia. I hope we are:

Why Britain may struggle to produce enough vaccines for coronavirus

    https://www.telegraph.co.uk/technology/2020/03/17/can-re-tool-existing-manufacturing-facilities-help-produce-vaccines/

And China says a Japanese anti-viral drug works and will produce generic copies. Same issue but more urgent though not as high volune.

I just went to PknSv (Sth Dn) for my usual weekly shop.. it was the busiest I have seen it (on a friday a.m. in recent times).. it was fairly calm though. The things I noticed:

    1) the canned food shelves were looking a bit bare
    2) the Frozen veges freezer was almost empty, with two staff restocking. One guy said thx for being patient & polite; apparently some folks are not
    3) several people were obviously ignoring the message ‘DON’T PANIC BUY’.. one guy’s trolley was packed so high, it was almost toppling over. A lady had about 10 bags of frozen veges & several packs of toilet paper & many cans of food
    4) I usually just walk through on friday a.m. BUT today they had all the checkouts open & there were about 5-6 trolleys in each of them
    5) a lady working in the shop, i know.. said ‘This is nothing compared to wednesday evening (just passed).. the PANIC was at its height !!’

surprisingly.. no one was wearing face masks :/
