8-8:30 am on a normal working Friday in Dunedin and the roads are usually close to their busiest. Not under Covid-19 lockdown.
The Octagon has a few parked cars, no sign of people.:
The corner of State Highway 1 (heading south) and Andersons Bay Rod is one of the busiest intersections (usually):
That’s all heading into the city on a change of lights from the southern motorway.
Lookout Point showing the motorway heading into the city at a major intersection:
Stuart Street, one of the main feeder routes into the CBD from the hill suburbs:
So the lockdown seems to be working fairly well.

/ 27th March 2020Was to travel to stay out along Andersons Bay Road and have couple of days of the Octagon ambience later in the year. Reminders, sad reminders of bookings for NZ v Scotland later no longer of use.
I enjoy checking those cams when snow hits the town.

/ 27th March 2020When there’s news of snow I check the Roslyn webcams, they are a bit higher than were I am so give me a good idea of road conditions (Andy Bay Road is hardly above sea level so gets little snow). And the Leith Saddle is the highest road here so is another good indicator.
The Crown Range and Lindis Pass webcams are also good. When the Auckland news peeople say ‘snow has blanketed the South Island’ I prefer to check out reality, as snow fall is usually quite patchy and mostly nothing like it is portrayed – media scour the island for the most dramatic shots.

/ 27th March 2020I went to PknSv at Sth Dn this a.m.; good to see the PANIC buying seems to have stopped.. BUT I usually get a taxi home.. NONE around, so I pushed my trolley through the empty streets & then back to the shop.. very SORE knees 😦
There were about half with masks on. i only wore gloves & kept my distance from the other folks inside.
‘nga mihi ki a koutou’ 🙂

/ 27th March 2020Any queues? or did you get straight in, around and out?
Zedd
/ 27th March 2020today only 1-2 shoppers in each checkout .. almost straight in & out. As I said; getting my shopping home was the problem, (I dont have a car) BUT all done 🙂

/ 27th March 2020Zedd; do you have a wheeled suitcase ? I do have a wheeled shopping bag, but prefer a wheeled suitcase now as it looks better and if there are four wheels it can be guided rather than pulled. It;s easier to pack than a trolley bag, too. I don’t know why it took me so long to think of it.

/ 27th March 2020no but next time I might take my large backpack & just walk slowly, with the beers under my arm
