Good one, Lurch. Well done, Hurricanes!

Looks like the Highlanders have some explaining to do.

        Agree with the congratulations.

The other bit? It is shit reporting plain and simple.

How many people were in the group? “A group – including at least four Highlanders.”
“Players and associates?” How many were plumbers or chippies?

Two reporters put the story together and got the sensation side of it but couldn’t get the factual bits.

If there were 23 accountants, students, clerks and one rugby player would it be a big story? Yes, about the rugby player.

They’re “meant to be role models to kids and world rugby.” How many kids were there observing their role models? How many gathered from around the rugby world to observe the goings on and be led astray and be dramatically affected.

And in the body of the story, “Yesterday morning one member – who is not part of the Highlanders’ player roster – was arrested and charged with wilful damage and disorderly behaviour.”

Funny how It is never reported when media celebrities and others employed in that industry go on alleged drunken public benders. I guess it just never happens, and no chance whatsoever that competing outlets are adhering to the doctrine of “mutually-assured destruction” 🙄

There’s a saying in show business, Lurchy. And let’s be honest, your saint is feted as a show business star. She is certainly just play acting as a leader. Anyway, the saying is: be kind to those you meet on the way up…they are the same people you will meet on the way down.
And when Jacinda falls, she will fall big time.

Adverts on TV1 are hilarious at the moment. Southern Cross has an ad featuring a young bro having a taonga put around his neck by his mother while dad looks on pensively. Mum and dad then hug the young bro as a police car pulls up outside. This ad was featured on One News…minus the part showing the bro of course.

The other ad addresses racism. It features a Maori sheila with a moko; Johnny and two other media presenters. They put on headphones and listen earnestly to some whitey spouting racist korero. Johnny takes off his headphones and looks most concerned. The Maori sheila is sad ..and so are the other two presenters.😂😂😂

I’m taking a bet with myself that should I go to the website mentioned in this ad, will I hear a Maori spouting racist bs? I’m betting not.

Welcome to Aotearoa folks. It’s a land of priorities.

      • The context and the way he says it make it obvious that it was a joke, not said seriously. He talked about the car going to hospital and so on.

How anyone could take this seriously is a real mystery.

Indeed, hasn’t our media more important issues to deal with? What gets me is those who complain about crap media and nothing stuff being turned into issues getting all excited orgasmic when stories like this come out.

“One person did come to O’Connor’s defence on Bishop’s page, saying it “sounds like he was making a joke, not moaning”.

“Newshub has contacted O’Connor for a response.” O’Connor should take a Corky approach to Newshub: “Fuck off and tell the desperate Chris Bishop to do the same.”

Your irony, sarcasm and general Lefty nastiness is appreciated. Why you wasted your time with a response is beyond me. While I think the election may be closer then I previously thought, Jacinda will still likely win. That’s a good thing for you..RIGHT?

O’Connor obviously meant it in fun but didn’t stop to think beforehand how it might get perceived by opponents. He’s not struck me as very bright, tbh. Pollies & Twitter are a bad mix.

I agree..althought I wonder if a Freudian slip was not involved. It’s silly given they are sleep walking to victory ( at the moment).

Oops – I see it was Facebook. But same thing. Posting short items on either platform as a politician without first thinking how it might be turned against one is a problem I thankfully don’t have to worry about.

              I couldn’t be a politician. I don’t have a hide thick enuf.

               /  26th July 2020

I dunno if they’re sleep walking to victory yet, Corky. The few folk I’ve talked to lately are concerned about the credibility & competence of both main parties at the moment.

Politicians can’t say anything without it being turned into Cretin Soup by someone to be slurped up by other cretins. That Chris Bishop spends a fair amount of time in the kitchen? No surprise.

There will be no ‘sleep walk to victory.’ However that works out, an amusing spectacle is those thinking they were on a losing horse slowing the horse saying they don’t want to win because running the country is going to be too hard for them.

So they are the ones with the boldness and the ideas they’re the ones for the job, the way forward, but not yet thanks. “The roof is leaking, we’re the ones with all the answers and solutions, but we’ll wait for three more winters of rain.” 🙃

Or they’re jumping off onto some other horse so they can reassess their excuses and pretend all the way along that they didn’t care about winning.

You can’t understand why I wasted my time with a response? Look on it as community service, an educational input. I’m trying to help others to recognise that what they see isn’t gold. It’s not even iron pyrite. It’s horse shit.

Still don’t get it, huh? Let me spell it out for you. Labour can’t win this election even if they win. They lose either way.

If they win the election, it’s more of the same. Worse, they may be in coalition with the Greens. Worse, Winston may get in again. Add Covid to the mix and Labour probably won’t make it to a full term in office. The public by that time will be frantic…and Labour will be sent to the wilderness for a VERY long time.

Meanwhile the tottering disarrayed mob know as National have nothing to lose. If they win, their fiscal drag chain will be seen by voters as a necessity. Provided they sort internal ructions and are not so parsimonious as in previous years, they will settle into a safe set of hands government that voters will feel comfortable with. However, the down side to that is Labour will not be destroyed. Labour will say: if we had been in government blah blah blah. Best National lose this election and pick up the pieces once Labour is destroyed. Why make more work for yourself?
Three more years in opposition equates to the keys of political immortality being handed to National. That’s a divine RIGHT to rule.

To be clear…I want National to lose this election.

    • The ‘police car’ is a TAXI. It has an illuminated white sign on its roof. The boy is leaving home. Police roof lights flash and are red and blue.

Good news from America Trump has signed an executive order which should substantially lower drug prices, big pharma is furious. You can now parallel import, the government can now pass on the prices they pay for things like epi pens and insulin which big pharma have manipulated to crazy levels. Rebates now go direct to the insured not the insurer so the appalling price gouging will cease. Wholesalers can now import fda approved drugs directly and medicare will pay no more for drugs than the price paid in similar countries and given the price premium for the US can be 80% upwards this is huge.
Watch for the lawsuits to start and the donations to the Democrats increase from big Pharma, Pelosi as usual is all bitter faced about the whole thing.
Alongside criminal justice reform, sorting the veterans administration this is great work from Trump which will again get absolutely no good coverage as the media will now align themselves with big pharma to defend their gouging.

It’s a good thing for Americans but it’s a turnaround for Trump to be enabling American manufacturing companies to be undercut by cheaper foreign manufacturers.

Pelosi & Schumer & Biden should have got in first with a proposal to do this.

As you say, it’ll be interesting to see how the media – and Biden – react to this development.

Americans paying more for drugs than other people would have annoyed him no end. Pelosi needs to do more to reform the insurance market and reform tort but the two groups are some of her biggest donors and without fundraising no one wants Pelosi.
The epi pen and insulin racket has been horrendous with too many diabetics unable to get insulin in a rich first world country. Basically they push the price up and them give bigger rebates to insurance companies so if you arnt insured you are paying huge sums for a very cheap drug.

Is that American companies being undercut by cheaper foreign companies which are actually American companies operating offshore for the cheap labour?

Irrespective of Collins- and maybe even because of her – that is a fair poll result for a party whose political brand is pragmatic competence, given the shambles of three leaders in less than two months, and Boag, Walker and Falloon. None of which were Collins’ doing.

But this will always be Ardern’s election to lose.
