Wilding pines surround the small lakeside village , thats the core of the problem.

I see on a map theres sheep station next door, was this the prime example of the tenure review transferred freehold beside the lake into private ownership, who then sold sections for inflated values for holiday homes. The Farms or more likely corporate interests who bought out the farming families during tenure review…..
Of course National changed the rules secretly during their first 6 months after winning office in 2008…. GFC be damned there was other important business to be done.

    https://www.stuff.co.nz/world/americas/300123916/was-us-president-donald-trumps-hospital-video-edited-to-remove-coughing

” Shortly after the video was published, a number of professional video editors noted that this probably wasn’t true; that, after Trump mentions the use of therapeutics, he appears to begin to cough – but not complete the cough.”

‘His doctors have publicly acknowledged that Trump has been experiencing a cough, a common symptom of Covid-19, the disease caused by the coronavirus”

So he wasnt on oxygen but finally revealed he was – more than once . The first time was to enable him to be seen walking to the helicopter in the RUSH to hospital ( he was driven the short distance at the other end) . The Military hospital is not that far from the White House, previously when going there he was driven in a motorcade…. even when the last time was a ‘rush job’ as well.

All this being rushed to Hospital… who really is the sick old man !

More news for those who have ‘concerns’ for Trumps illness

“Mr. Trump’s oxygen levels dropped to 93 percent at one point, his doctors said; that is below the 95 percent level that is considered the lower limit of the normal range. Many medical experts consider patients to have severe Covid-19 if their oxygen levels drop below 94 percent.’

      Severe covid ?
As for the ‘supplements’ Trump was getting ….well they left out the real medicines

“Dr. Conley said that the president had been given the steroid dexamethasone on Saturday, in addition to remdesivir, an antiviral drug. Dexamethasone has been shown to help patients who are severely ill with Covid-19, but it is typically not used in mild or moderate cases of the disease.
“The National Institutes of Health has issued similar guidance, specifying that the drug is recommended only for people who require a mechanical ventilator to help them breathe, or who need supplemental oxygen.”
      NY Times

So then , doctored videos , happy talk about treatment. Situation normal…alls good and then we could hear Pence is temporary President .

With someone who is ill, 93% oxystat level at one point ain’t bad.

Following a Cabinet meeting on 19 August he went home to his ministerial house in Seatoun with the flu. On the 28th a heart specialist persuaded him to check into Our Lady’s Home of Compassion hospital in Island Bay. He died three days later of ‘congestive cardiac failure’ and ‘thromboembolic pulmonary heart disease’.

I remember it well. TV broadcast was working well for a change. I was watching Steve Rickards ‘On The Mat’ wrestling show ( or its predecessor). It must have been a Saturday? Anyway the show was interrupted to say Kirk had died. This was late at night.

I was wrong on that bit, but still its the biggest ‘whataboutism’ in this site as it was back in 1974. So we wont hear that rhetorical device used again will we.
Still a strange place to go when you have serious heart disease , a catholic nuns run maternity hospital, as I read it now the message for the public was he needed ‘bed rest’

You invented a fantasy scenario and I merely referred you to the only corresponding real one I recall in my lifetime. Big Norm just had the flu and then he was dead.

              Trump isn’t.

              Was more than ‘just flu’
              http://www.michaelbassett.co.nz/articles.php?a=kirk
‘ In New Delhi on 28 December 1973 he had a serious heart turn but bounced back.(39) He then contracted dysentery. After the Commonwealth Games in Christchurch in February 1974 and a series of visits from heads of state including the Queen, Kirk decided to have his painful varicose veins attended to. His recovery from the operation on his legs on 10 April 1974 was slow; blood clots developed, and his heart gave further trouble. Flights in an unpressurised aircraft to the Bay of Islands and back exacerbated his discomfort. Kirk lost weight and sweated constantly. Yet he continued to work and attended the Labour Party conference on 16 May. Delegates were shocked by his gaunt appearance.(40)’

So digging the hole deeper on a whataboutism on something no one remembers from 45 yrs ago., even you looked it up.

I don’t need to lie, Duker. In fact I did look up Wiki to confirm when he died, and what the name of the show was I watching. I swore it was ‘On The Mat.” The dates say different. But I know it was Steve Rickard wrestling.

By the way, how did you know with such certainty I had looked up Wiki?

You need to be very careful. Otherwise you may have a thread opened up for your case.

Duker, I remembered the death coming as a complete shock. We had no indication he was in poor health.

In 1966 I was secretary of the Canterbury Chess Club and we organised an international chess tournament to celebrate our centennial. Norm Kirk and then Minister of Finance Bert Walker as local MPs were invited to present prizes. The top NZ player Ortvin Sarapu celebrated a bit too well and made an embarrassingly passionate tipsy speech in favour of the Labour party. Norm and Bert took it quite well. That was the only time I met him.

More similarities with Big Norm and Big Donald ‘including both going to hospital’

“The public never found out what happened that Saturday last year when the president was whisked off to Walter Reed medical center, a visit that was raised again this weekend, as reporters noted that we might not even know all Trump’s underlying conditions.”

One Christian has no power to politicise his faith! The pundits must be getting nervous that Judith might actually win this.

Jacinda politicises her faith of Humanism every photo op with crowds. That is power.

The right thinking (and polite) person understands when he’s on a cult slide. One person walking with Jesus Christ the Good Shepherd can never be a cult.

Hence, the only definitive description of a ‘cult’ is this –
A cult is any group of people where any individual amongst them is not free in Christ.

And the only definitive way to keep yourself safe from the cults is to carry your cross. At times, that may require you to participate in a cult slide. You are free, but not free to sin Kimbo.

The tantrums here show that some Kiwi Christians are annoyed about the cross. Hatred toward the cross is to be expected from the world – but from Christians? Not good for the country

The cover up is falling apart very quickly
“Two administration officials speaking on the condition of anonymity acknowledged that he had an undisclosed positive result from a rapid test on Thursday evening after returning from a fund-raiser at his golf club in Bedminster, N.J. But he did not reveal it when he subsequently called into Sean Hannity’s Fox News show and, in a raspy voice, said he was still waiting for results.

Only after the television show did the results of another, more sophisticated PCR test come back confirming the positive reading, according to the officials, an account previously reported by The Wall Street Journal. It was that later test result that Mr. Trump announced on Twitter around 1 a.m. Friday.”

Again the cover up about when the doctors knew he had covid which they initially said was a ‘mispoke by two separate doctors’, is now revealed to be a complete deliberate lie.

Election 2020: Judith Collins under pressure over policy on the fly
National Party leader Judith Collins is facing criticism from within over policy decisions that at worst are improvised and at best did not consult the party’s own spokesperson.
Collins is having to respond after an email leaked to Newshub showed National’s Auckland Council spokesperson Denise Lee criticising a policy announced today to review Auckland Council.
Lee called it a “highly problematic idea”, a “nightmare” and “another working group”, and said bypassing her was “incredibly poor form and displays a shockingly bad example of poor culture”, while another National Party member said Collins was consistently “making up policy on the hoof” and creating division.

Fluster and confusion from Collins ‘office’ over this
“Collins’ office said she was not available for an interview, but said the policy was one the campaign team had been working on “for several weeks”……. yep its made up
and like a bad informercial that is Susan Paul Judith Collins …ye there is MORE

“Collins admitted to media last week that her plan to prosecute businesses taking unfair advantage of the wage subsidy was improvised, and when questioned over whether it would cause trouble said the government can “do pretty much anything it likes if you have the majority”.

Theres a whole string of small ‘others’ that shows Collins is desperately making it up as she goes, perhaps she should be leader of one man show ACT
“She also pledged inquiries into both Pharmac and Gloriavale, getting rid of the guns register, and matching Labour’s commitment to free sanitary products in schools.

Wont go well with that strong team that on all the posters, but then Collins has always been more another pint sized Muldoon, but with cankles and an acid tongue to match

Shane Jones has berated Eugenie Sage for suggesting farmers only want free grazing on DOC land. According to Jones, the land in question is not technically DOC land.

Another real estate agents myth busted
“The idea that a “flood of New Zealanders” are coming back to New Zealand is a myth, economists say, and that could have significant implications for the year ahead.

Westpac chief economist Dominick Stephens said suggestions that this country’s Covid-19 strategy had drawn people home in large numbers were incorrect.

“Last year, the average number of New Zealanders entering the country on a permanent and long-term basis was 3400 a month. Since April this year it’s been 1000. In other words, the facts are the number of Kiwis coming into New Zealand has dropped by more than two-thirds.”

Nutty Lefties will introduce gender neutral bathrooms in schools. Are these idiots for real?

Besides the cost and confusion for young people who may have been swayed as to their sexuality, it will do something bullies won’t be able to resist….especially bullies of one race not constrained by supposed middleclass understanding. Yep, it will highlight kids who are ‘gender neutral’ whatever that means.

How ironic.. as Shane Jones gets ready to jettison his provincial fund and ideas about shower heads before being cosigned to the Kaumatua Flats, along comes this madness.

I get told off by not being direct and telling it as is is, the grand way of today. I’m too oblique apparently.

And here you are Corky doing the same thing. C’mon, what’s this, the sort of thing you’d call pussyfooting around and snowflake, gutless lefty approach?

You wrote ….”especially bullies of one race not constrained by supposed middleclass understanding.”

Are you going to say exactly what you mean? Are you game to say exactly what you mean? One of the schools I attended had the motto: Totis viribus.

I thought it would be obvious. I’m talking about Maori and Polynesians. I just didn’t want
to hurt peoples sensibilities. Looks like I have failed.

You do know Polynesians are the main culprits for school bullying…don’t you? And they love gang banging the weak. A collectivist culture with a collectivist attitude to bullying.

Western History. I have said repeatedly that Lefties hate Western culture. They hate it because it cannot be controlled. It is too good. The embarrassment of wealth and advancements goes against their grain. Proof you ask:

Nothing to say about the tens of thousands of books about to be given away? Even Karl would be in there. Of course not, you don’t give one iota about western culture. Hell, you find it funny.

Ms Collins is back to her usual ‘two faced’ way of politics
    https://www.rnz.co.nz/news/political/427703/election-2020-can-judith-collins-keep-a-lid-on-it

‘Speaking to reporters today <.she denied making up policy on the hoof (despite admitting to that very thing last week over the wage subsidy[payback]) but said “leaders do make decisions … it’s part of leadership … during campaigns leaders have to go out and make announcements”.

Then she thinks its leadership, to runaround headless, while proving ‘the strong team’ is in reality a travesty and just billboard buzz phrase. The caucus hasnt seen their internal polling for months ( another sign its still dire)
It can only turn into a landslide for labour, who arent really campaigning that strongly
