/ 8th October 2020Interesting developments in the Trump Russia saga with emerging evidence the top brass in the intelligence community, the political appointments, cooked up the Trump Russia collusion to deflect from the Hilary email saga according to hand written notes from the former CIA chief. Pretty ugly behaviour.
A postman has been arrested for dumping mail including postal ballots. Another postie has been charged in West Virginia for changing votes from Republican to Democrat..these stories are becoming a little to commonplace.
Not much coverage of Hunter Biden receiving 3.5 million from Moscow either.
Trumpy looks well having slain the virus with his virility, he fired covid and then flew back in dramatic fashion to the white house with the light at a perfect angle. He knows how to get a great TV shot if nothing else. Not confident anymore that he will win.
artcroft
/ 8th October 2020And yet Trumpy is posed to lose in a landslide to Sleepy Joe Biden. I guess it’s got something to do with being a grifter.
Alan Wilkinson
/ 8th October 2020If Trump will lose in a landslide how will you describe National’s loss?
David
/ 8th October 2020I think National will win. Greens on 4%, winston on 3%, Act on 9%, Ardern on 45%, Collins in high 30s so its more a case of how will folk cope with Arderns loss.
Duker
/ 8th October 2020Been reading that dud Bryce Edwards column have you where his magic arithmetic mean greens and labour go down but National goes up without Act going down.
For some reason there hasnt been a poll so far this week, and the last one had national bouncing around 30% plus/minus the margin of error, some of their vote has gone to ACT.
Last election as Labour rose, the Greens and NZ first declined while Nats + ACT stayed steady

I admittedly only caught the tail end of Paddy Gowers Cannabis debate on TV, but there was a bro on the panel who was basically saying the same thing as me.
I would like to see posters try to troll him.
The difference when I post is I have first hand experience. Other posters have first hand experience of what the internet and media say. Surprisingly, there is a huge reality gap.
May I also say…Paula Bennett looked stunning. Like a weight had been lifted from her shoulders. Retirement from politics is suiting her.

/ 8th October 2020Not being a fan of our NZ Marxist education system, I was pleased to see the New Zealand Initiative Think Tank believes the same thing.
https://www.stuff.co.nz/national/education/123002117/new-zealand-initiative-calls-for-revamp-of-unscientific-curriculum-and-childled-philosophy
My observations are based on over a decade helping young rellies through the system. Only the intellectually gifted and immigrant children can survive our system unscathed. The reason for that is gifted children can sort bs from reality. They play games inside their head while the Marxist indoctrinated teacher drones on about making mind maps to show different emotions you may feel during the day. For immigrant children, their education starts ( and ends?) at home. They have a solid grounding in the three Rs. Almost all classes I have been associated with will have a Asian or Indian kid at the top. It shows in their work that’s posted..and what I’m told by my young rellies. For example, my niece who is a bright spark is on level 12 of 15 for maths (whatever that means) I asked her who was on level 15.. four Asian names were produced.
So, how would a Marxist teacher reply to my criticisms? Probably like this.
Quote from article:
”New Zealand’s Principal Federation has described the report as out of step, and said the New Zealand Initiative had not kept up with the changing world.”
That’s the type of idiocy that has people voting Labour because Jacinda is such a nice person. Or the young Tory bused in to support Judith who said he was brought up in a household that had both parents supporting National… so, yeah, it’s what I know.
Thankfully,it’s not all bad. Some schools quietly ignore the education ministry and give their kids a solid grounding in the basics. I bet when the inspectors call, there’s a mad rush to put up posters about climate change and recycling. Maori song sheets and poi would be displayed prominently, and stories from the kids about what makes them sad. The inspector would say Kapai!!!
Talkback then let lose with calls from parents and pupils. One caller said he got 30 credits towards NCEA 1 for cooking nachos. NCEA is basically given away now.

/ 8th October 2020The Pisa data is alarming. But it reflects educational priorities.
“The grouped provinces of Beijing, Shanghai, Jiangsu and Zhejiang (China) was the highest performer across all domains, followed by Singapore. Compared to China, Australian students performed at a level roughly one-and-a-half school years lower in reading literacy, around three-and-a-half school years lower in mathematical literacy, and around three years lower in scientific literacy.” from https://www.educationmattersmag.com.au/australia-drop-in-pisa-rankings-should-we-worried/
The Chinese want their kids to do well academically. NZ and the Aus want more focus on collaboration and emotional intelligence. You get what you aim for.
Duker
/ 8th October 2020China does what some schools used to do here ‘to boost their pass rates ” – which was to prevent the lower performing students from even sitting tests.
Rigging of pass rate happens everywhere , even some well publicised cases in US, but more common at subtle level, where they just ‘keep up’ rather than be the ‘stars’
artcroft
/ 8th October 2020Yeah, its well known that the Chinese can’t add two and two together. I mean China as an educational powerhouse? Come on…. Most Chinese wouldn’t even know where the local school is, and yet Pisa has them ahead of everyone else. Just as well you could see through their scam Duker.
duperez
/ 8th October 2020“The grouped provinces of Beijing, Shanghai, Jiangsu and Zhejiang (China) was the highest performer across all domains,”
The grouped areas of Epsom, Remuera, Parnell and St Heliers (Auckland) should have been used as the New Zealand sample cohort. Then we would have got what we aim for.
If that were done would the methodology be questioned? Or is that approach okay only in some countriess?

/ 8th October 2020The NZ Initiative does not want children to learn to think for themselves.
They don’t want children learning about how money is created and distributed.
They want, compliant ,marinated group think, pursuing the American Dream, good conformists who do not question the…status quo.

That was a description ( my opinion).. The topic was education.
As for the rest…you must remember to translate the jumble in your head before posting.
Now back to the question..what do you think Marxism is? It isn’t a hard question.
duperez
/ 8th October 2020Surprised you only used ‘Marxist’ three times. Saying something many times makes it more true generally. Besides that, saying it lots gives it real meaning, attributes gravitas to it.
Can you explain in real terms what you mean by the ‘NZ Marxist’ eduction system as a way of furthering our education? Thank you.
By the way, what is wrong with being qualified to cook nachos (or cook anything)?
Apparently we have a dire need for people to pick fruit and other crops.. Maybe we should have NCEA credits for that. A prominent political leader just this week talked about schooling for relevant employment needs.
Duker
/ 8th October 2020We dont need to teach people to pick fruit, its the growers have to make sure the pickers get paid more. The media did a story that the $25 ph wasnt the wage the pickers were getting which was more generally around minimum wage which is now almost $19 ph.
My more and the pickers will be there. The people bought in from overseas are far more profitable for the contractors as they can make money all the way along the supply chain from India , and even make money on accommodation in NZ

/ 8th October 2020Southland Framer Jane Smith has applied under the Freedom Of Information Act to find out what David Parker has been up to behind the scenes.
Parker’s fresh water policy reform has turned into a personal crusade according to Smith.
She believes there is a ‘black box’ of shady issues regarding Parker’s actions. She also has a problem with an adviser to Parker:
Quote:
”Conflicted?
Meanwhile, Jane Smith believes she has uncovered a serious conflict of interest issue, with animal rights activist Rowan Taylor – a MfE senior policy analyst for MfE leading the ministry’s submissions to influence plan changes at regional level.
I am appalled that an animal liberation, vegan who is publicly opposed to livestock farming is essentially being paid by the taxpayer to be an internal activist,” she says.”
Yep…the Left hate farmers and farming. If this vegan adviser isn’t supplementing with Taurine, Fish Oil and B12, there’s no guessing what madness he may suggest to Parker.
Parker is a man with much blackbox baggage. He seems to be tapu. MSM will not go near him regarding some allegations. Let’s hope Smith can break that rahui and bring this merry socialist to account.

‘Judith Collins appears to conflate weekly stats about fossil-fuelled electricity with annual numbers – plus take credit for the rain.
The National Party leader threw out some stats during The Press Leaders Debate that, at face value, suggest the country’s electricity was much greener when her party was in power.’

As well the countrys biggest onshore NG field was closed for 6 months for maintenance to the above ground plant…hence the coal filled the fossil fuel gap
“”The simple current reality is that New Zealand’s largest gas field, which normally meets 35-to-40 per cent of gas market demand, has a suffered a major unscheduled part-outage with no external visibility as to when a return to normal service can be expected.”
